After three years of growth, the African electric rotary converter market decreased by -37.4% to $X in 2021. In general, consumption, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at X units in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, electric rotary converter exports declined to $X in 2021. In general, exports, however, showed a slight curtailment. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 97%. The level of export peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

South Africa was the major exporter of electric rotary converters in Africa, with the volume of exports reaching X units, which was near 75% of total exports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Egypt (X units), making up an 18% share of total exports. Togo (X units) took a little share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to electric rotary converter exports from South Africa stood at +2.8%. At the same time, Togo (+67.5%) and Egypt (+65.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Togo emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Africa, with a CAGR of +67.5% from 2012-2021. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Egypt and Togo increased by +18 and +1.6 percentage points, while the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, the largest electric rotary converter supplying countries in Africa were Egypt ($X), South Africa ($X) and Togo ($X), together accounting for 73% of total exports.

In terms of the main exporting countries, Egypt, with a CAGR of +47.9%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

The export price in Africa stood at $X per unit in 2021, shrinking by -47.8% against the previous year. In general, the export price continues to indicate a perceptible slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 when the export price increased by 172%. The level of export peaked at $X per unit in 2020, and then dropped sharply in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Egypt ($X per unit), while South Africa ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by South Africa (-2.0%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

In 2021, supplies from abroad of electric rotary converters was finally on the rise to reach X units after two years of decline. Over the period under review, imports recorded prominent growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 with an increase of 617%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X units. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, electric rotary converter imports shrank notably to $X in 2021. Overall, imports saw temperate growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 103% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X, and then dropped remarkably in the following year.

Imports by Country

In 2021, Nigeria (X units) represented the key importer of electric rotary converters, mixing up 78% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Mozambique (X units), creating a 10% share of total imports. Burkina Faso (X units), Zambia (X units) and Morocco (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to electric rotary converter imports into Nigeria stood at +27.7%. In value terms, Nigeria ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported electric rotary converters in Africa, comprising 38% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Mozambique ($X), with a 6.5% share of total imports. It was followed by Burkina Faso, with a 2.3% share.

In Nigeria, electric rotary converter imports expanded at an average annual rate of +16.8% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Mozambique (+23.5% per year) and Burkina Faso (+28.9% per year).

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the import price in Africa amounted to $X per unit, reducing by -57.8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price saw a deep downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 an increase of 200%. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2020, and then fell rapidly in the following year.

Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was Burkina Faso ($X per unit), while Nigeria ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Burkina Faso (+3.1%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the import price figures.
