Rwanda, with a CAGR of +55.9%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, among the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The export price in Africa stood at $X per unit in 2021, increasing by 125% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 an increase of 264%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2018 to 2021, the export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Algeria ($X per unit), while Angola ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Algeria (+8.7%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Egypt ($X), Algeria ($X) and Kenya ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, together accounting for 46% of total imports. These countries were followed by Morocco, South Africa, Angola, Ethiopia, Libya, Zimbabwe, Nigeria, Uganda and Zambia, which together accounted for a further 38%.

Zimbabwe, with a CAGR of +75.9%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the import price in Africa amounted to $X per unit, standing approx. at the previous year. Import price indicated a prominent expansion from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +6.5% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, stone sawing machine import price decreased by -19.8% against 2018 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 an increase of 94% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices reached the peak figure at $X per unit in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.
