At the same time, Mozambique (+51.7%), Angola (+37.9%), Burkina Faso (+22.0%), Democratic Republic of the Congo (+21.5%), Tanzania (+10.2%) and Egypt (+9.2%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Mozambique emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Africa, with a CAGR of +51.7% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Zambia (-2.0%), Namibia (-5.0%) and Botswana (-13.4%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Mozambique (+11 p.p.), Democratic Republic of the Congo (+6.3 p.p.), Tanzania (+2.1 p.p.), Burkina Faso (+2.1 p.p.), Egypt (+2 p.p.) and Angola (+1.6 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2022, the share of Botswana (-4.7 p.p.) and South Africa (-16.7 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, South Africa ($X) remains the largest scrapers excavator supplier in Africa, comprising 69% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Tanzania ($X), with a 6% share of total exports. It was followed by Democratic Republic of the Congo, with a 3.9% share.
In South Africa, scrapers excavator exports plunged by an average annual rate of -7.2% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Tanzania (+29.4% per year) and Democratic Republic of the Congo (+18.0% per year).

Zimbabwe, with a CAGR of +23.8%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in Africa stood at $X per unit in 2022, shrinking by -13.8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price showed a perceptible contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the import price increased by 14% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices reached the peak figure at $X per unit in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was South Africa ($X per unit), while Nigeria ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
