In value terms, South Africa ($X) remains the largest milled rice supplier in Africa, comprising X% of total milled rice exports. The second position in the ranking was occupied by Niger ($X), with a X% share of total exports. It was followed by Tanzania, with a X% share.
From 2007 to 2018, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in South Africa was relatively modest. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Niger (+X% per year) and Tanzania (+X% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The milled rice export price in Africa stood at $X per ton in 2018, coming down by -X% against the previous year. Overall, the milled rice export price continues to indicate a mild contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 an increase of X% year-to-year. Over the period under review, the export prices for semi-milled or wholly milled (bleached) rice reached their maximum at $X per ton in 2008; however, from 2009 to 2018, export prices failed to regain their momentum.

The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2011 when imports increased by X% y-o-y. Cameroon (X tons), Somalia (X tons), Ghana (X tons), Liberia (X tons) and Madagascar (X tons) occupied a relatively small share of total imports.
From 2007 to 2018, average annual rates of growth with regard to milled rice imports into Benin stood at +X%. At the same time, Ghana (+X%), Kenya (+X%), Guinea (+X%), Angola (+X%), Somalia (+X%), Mozambique (+X%), Liberia (+X%) and Madagascar (+X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Ghana emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Africa, with a CAGR of +X% from 2007-2018. South Africa and Cote d'Ivoire experienced a relatively flat trend pattern.
