While the share of South Africa (+29 p.p.) and Cameroon (+12 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2021, the share of Egypt (-35.7 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, the largest wood slicing machine supplying countries in Africa were Cameroon ($X), Egypt ($X) and South Africa ($X), together comprising 88% of total exports.

Cameroon, with a CAGR of +16.5%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, among the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the exports figures.

Export Prices by Country

In 2021, the export price in Africa amounted to $X per unit, increasing by 51% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, showed a slight curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 an increase of 112% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per unit. From 2018 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Cameroon ($X per unit), while South Africa ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a noticeable increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 2,575% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X units. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, wood slicing machine imports dropped sharply to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a modest increase.
