The African steam turbine market stood at $X in 2021, surging by 1.5% against the previous year. In general, consumption posted a significant increase. Over the period under review, the market attained the maximum level at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, consumption failed to regain momentum.

South Africa represented the major exporter of steam turbines and other vapor turbines in Africa, with the volume of exports accounting for X units, which was near 63% of total exports in 2021. Egypt (X units) took the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Tanzania (X units). All these countries together took near 26% share of total exports. Nigeria (X units), Zambia (X units) and Malawi (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

In value terms, the largest steam turbine supplying countries in Africa were Nigeria ($X), South Africa ($X) and Egypt ($X), with a combined 90% share of total exports.

Among the main exporting countries, Egypt, with a CAGR of +35.4%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the export price in Africa amounted to $X per unit, increasing by 14% against the previous year. Overall, the export price saw a buoyant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when the export price increased by 95%. The level of export peaked at $X per unit in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a abrupt decrease. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
