From 2012 to 2022, the share of Tanzania, Ghana, Cote d'Ivoire, Rwanda, Morocco and Djibouti increased by +7, +3, +2.7, +2.3, +2.3 and +2 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Morocco ($X), South Africa ($X) and Ghana ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, with a combined 35% share of total imports. Djibouti, Algeria, Libya, Cote d'Ivoire, Tanzania, Egypt, Kenya, Angola, Mauritius and Rwanda lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 38%.

Among the main importing countries, Rwanda, with a CAGR of +27.9%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The import price in Africa stood at $X per unit in 2022, remaining constant against the previous year. Import price indicated tangible growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.9% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, swivel seat import price increased by +79.2% against 2016 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 an increase of 30% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.
