From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Rwanda (with a CAGR of +61.8%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the export price in Africa amounted to $X per ton, declining by -22.8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price continues to indicate a pronounced contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the export price increased by 20% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the peak figure at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Egypt ($X per ton), while Benin ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by South Africa (+2.1%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

In 2022, imports of table flatware in Africa shrank to X tons, declining by -8.4% compared with the previous year's figure. Overall, imports saw a noticeable decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 38%. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, table flatware imports reduced to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 with an increase of 40%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at $X in 2021, and then reduced in the following year.

In 2022, South Africa (X tons) and Algeria (X tons) were the key importers of table flatware in Africa, together finishing at near 26% of total imports. Morocco (X tons) ranks next in terms of the total imports with a 5.4% share, followed by Libya (4.9%), Cote d'Ivoire (4.8%), Ethiopia (4.7%) and Kenya (4.6%). In value terms, Algeria ($X), South Africa ($X) and Libya ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, with a combined 31% share of total imports. Ghana, Morocco, Cote d'Ivoire, Senegal, Cameroon, Angola, Djibouti, Ethiopia, Kenya and Rwanda lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 41%.

Among the main importing countries, Senegal, with a CAGR of +27.7%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2022, the import price in Africa amounted to $X per ton, shrinking by -5.8% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +3.3%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 an increase of 26%. Over the period under review, import prices reached the maximum at $X per ton in 2021, and then shrank in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Ghana ($X per ton), while Rwanda ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Cameroon (+7.5%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
