The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 89% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X tons. From 2014 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, telephone apparatus exports dropped to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 35%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2015 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Tunisia represented the key exporting country with an export of about X tons, which recorded 74% of total exports. South Africa (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a 15% share, followed by Morocco (6.2%).

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to telephone apparatus exports from Tunisia stood at -1.4%. At the same time, Morocco (+103.5%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Morocco emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Africa, with a CAGR of +103.5% from 2012-2022. In 2022, the export price in Africa amounted to $X per ton, remaining relatively unchanged against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, saw a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 an increase of 528%. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Morocco ($X per ton), while Tunisia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by South Africa (+42.0%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Imports in Africa

After three years of decline, overseas purchases of telephone apparatus increased by 18% to X tons in 2022. Overall, imports, however, saw a precipitous slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of 180%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2016 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, telephone apparatus imports rose markedly to $X in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +2.6% over the period from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when imports increased by 21%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

The countries with the highest levels of telephone apparatus imports in 2022 were South Africa (X tons), Nigeria (X tons), Egypt (X tons) and Morocco (X tons), together recording 59% of total import. Kenya (X tons), Tunisia (X tons), Democratic Republic of the Congo (X tons), Algeria (X tons), Ethiopia (X tons), Libya (X tons), Mali (X tons), Ghana (X tons) and Senegal (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Morocco (with a CAGR of +40.6%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, South Africa ($X), Egypt ($X) and Morocco ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, with a combined 51% share of total imports.

Morocco, with a CAGR of +33.3%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The import price in Africa stood at $X per ton in 2022, with a decrease of -2.4% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, showed a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 an increase of 2,798% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2021, and then dropped modestly in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Libya ($X per ton), while Democratic Republic of the Congo ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by South Africa (+56.0%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
