The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when the export price increased by 1,579%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2017 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was South Africa ($X per unit), while Tunisia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by South Africa (+56.5%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Imports in Africa
In 2022, purchases abroad of telephonic or telegraphic switching apparatus increased by 1% to X units, rising for the fifth year in a row after two years of decline. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a sharp setback. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 with an increase of 183% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X units. From 2016 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +4.1% from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 22% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X in 2019; afterwards, it flattened through to 2022.

From 2012 to 2022, the share of Nigeria, Morocco, Algeria, Kenya, Ethiopia, Egypt, Tunisia, Ghana, Libya, Senegal, Democratic Republic of the Congo and Cote d'Ivoire increased by +25, +11, +8.1, +4.5, +3.7, +3.6, +3.3, +3, +2.4, +2.3, +1.8 and +1.7 percentage points, respectively.
In value terms, South Africa ($X), Nigeria ($X) and Egypt ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, together comprising 51% of total imports. Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia, Kenya, Ethiopia, Libya, Ghana, Cote d'Ivoire, Senegal and Democratic Republic of the Congo lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 33%.
Morocco, with a CAGR of +20.4%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in Africa stood at $X per unit in 2022, rising by 9.1% against the previous year. Overall, the import price saw a significant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 an increase of 9,009% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices attained the maximum at $X per unit in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
