Test Bench Market Size in Africa

The African test bench market was finally on the rise to reach $X in 2022, after two years of decline. In general, consumption showed a strong expansion. The level of consumption peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, consumption failed to regain momentum.

Test Bench Production in Africa

In value terms, test bench production amounted to $X in 2022 estimated in export price. Overall, production showed a remarkable increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 118%. Over the period under review, production attained the maximum level at $X in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, production stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports in Africa

Test bench exports skyrocketed to X units in 2022, surging by 95% against 2021 figures. Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate a pronounced setback. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at X units in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, test bench exports surged to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate a buoyant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of 165%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2016 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

Exports by Country

Tunisia represented the largest exporting country with an export of about X units, which finished at 71% of total exports. It was distantly followed by South Africa (X units) and Morocco (X units), together mixing up a 20% share of total exports. Swaziland (X units) took a minor share of total exports.

Tunisia was also the fastest-growing in terms of the test benches exports, with a CAGR of +15.8% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Morocco (+4.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. By contrast, Swaziland (-13.3%) and South Africa (-15.0%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Tunisia (+58 p.p.) and Morocco (+2.5 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2022, the share of Swaziland (-6 p.p.) and South Africa (-45.7 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.

In value terms, Tunisia ($X) remains the largest test bench supplier in Africa, comprising 69% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by South Africa ($X), with a 20% share of total exports. It was followed by Morocco, with a 3.4% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Tunisia totaled +13.2%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: South Africa (+2.9% per year) and Morocco (-11.1% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2022, the export price in Africa amounted to $X per unit, reducing by -25.6% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate a remarkable increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 an increase of 123% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the maximum at $X per unit in 2021, and then declined significantly in the following year.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was South Africa ($X per unit), while Swaziland ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by South Africa (+21.0%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Test Bench Imports

Imports in Africa

In 2022, after two years of decline, there was significant growth in supplies from abroad of test benches, when their volume increased by 8.9% to X units. In general, imports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 35%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X units in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, test bench imports contracted slightly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports showed a slight expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when imports increased by 59%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2020 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

In 2022, South Africa (X units), distantly followed by Algeria (X units), Tunisia (X units), Morocco (X units), Egypt (X units), Cote d'Ivoire (X units) and Cameroon (X units) represented the major importers of test benches, together achieving 70% of total imports. Nigeria (X units), Ghana (X units), Libya (X units), Mali (X units), Uganda (X units) and Tanzania (X units) took a minor share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main importing countries, was attained by Uganda (with a CAGR of +63.1%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Algeria ($X), Tunisia ($X) and Morocco ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, with a combined 58% share of total imports. South Africa, Egypt, Nigeria, Cote d'Ivoire, Ghana, Cameroon, Libya, Uganda, Tanzania and Mali lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 30%.

Cameroon, with a CAGR of +50.9%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2022, the import price in Africa amounted to $X per unit, falling by -9.1% against the previous year. Import price indicated a mild expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.7% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, test bench import price increased by +59.3% against 2017 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 an increase of 34%. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2021, and then reduced in the following year.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Algeria ($X per unit), while Mali ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
