Over the period under review, the export prices reached the peak figure at $X per unit in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Tunisia ($X per unit), while South Africa amounted to $X per unit.

In 2021, overseas purchases of tuner blocks decreased by -7.8% to X units for the first time since 2017, thus ending a three-year rising trend. Tunisia (X units) ranks next in terms of the total imports with a 6.8% share, followed by Kenya (6.4%), Tanzania (5.7%) and Cameroon (4.6%). Democratic Republic of the Congo (X units), Cote d'Ivoire (X units), Ethiopia (X units), Morocco (X units), Algeria (X units), South Africa (X units) and Mozambique (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were in Ethiopia (with a CAGR of +66.0%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Nigeria ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported tuner blocks in Africa, comprising 18% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Cote d'Ivoire ($X), with a 6.4% share of total imports. It was followed by Ethiopia, with a 6.2% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in Nigeria stood at +5.5%. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Cote d'Ivoire (+23.0% per year) and Ethiopia (+65.2% per year).

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Algeria ($X per unit), while Ghana ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
