In value terms, unsaturated acyclic hydrocarbons exports dropped to $X in 2021. In general, exports recorded a noticeable reduction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 with an increase of 11% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

The biggest shipments were from South Africa (X tons), together accounting for 99% of total export.
South Africa was also the fastest-growing in terms of the unsaturated acyclic hydrocarbons exports, with a CAGR of -1.1% from 2012 to 2021. The shares of the largest exporters remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, South Africa ($X) also remains the largest unsaturated acyclic hydrocarbons supplier in Africa.

In 2021, the export price in Africa amounted to $X per ton, jumping by 16% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, continues to indicate a noticeable contraction. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for South Africa.
From 2012 to 2021, the rate of growth in terms of prices for South Africa amounted to -2.2% per year.

In 2021, overseas purchases of unsaturated acyclic hydrocarbons were finally on the rise to reach X tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Over the period under review, imports recorded a buoyant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of 222% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, unsaturated acyclic hydrocarbons imports soared to $X in 2021. In general, imports continue to indicate a resilient increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 134% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
Egypt was the key importing country with an import of about X tons, which amounted to 46% of total imports. South Africa (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total imports with a 28% share, followed by Nigeria (7%). Mozambique (X tons), Malawi (X tons), Zimbabwe (X tons) and Zambia (X tons) held a little share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Egypt (with a CAGR of +47.2%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Egypt ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported unsaturated acyclic hydrocarbons in Africa, comprising 53% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by South Africa ($X), with a 19% share of total imports. It was followed by Nigeria, with a 5.6% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Egypt totaled +40.2%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: South Africa (+26.7% per year) and Nigeria (+2.0% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the import price in Africa amounted to $X per ton, increasing by 2.9% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, saw a noticeable contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 an increase of 11%. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Egypt ($X per ton), while Zambia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Mozambique (-0.9%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the import price figures.
