In general, imports saw a strong expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 34% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked in 2022 and is likely to continue growth in the near future.

In value terms, urea and thiourea resins imports surged to $X in 2022. Overall, imports continue to indicate a prominent expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 61%. The level of import peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.

Nigeria represented the main importer of urea resins and thiourea resins in primary forms in Africa, with the volume of imports resulting at X tons, which was approx. 50% of total imports in 2022. The second position in the ranking was taken by Algeria ($X), with a 10% share of total imports. It was followed by Morocco, with a 5.8% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Nigeria stood at +41.2%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Algeria (+17.7% per year) and Morocco (+3.6% per year).
