Moreover, Egypt emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Africa, with a CAGR of +40.8% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Botswana (-6.3%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Morocco (+6.9 p.p.) and Egypt (+2.1 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2021, the share of Botswana (-2.1 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, South Africa ($X) remains the largest veterinary medicine vaccines supplier in Africa, comprising 55% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Botswana ($X), with a 17% share of total exports. It was followed by Egypt, with a 10% share.

In South Africa, veterinary medicine vaccines exports decreased by an average annual rate of -1.1% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Botswana (-2.6% per year) and Egypt (+51.6% per year).

The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when imports increased by 12%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
