The African video projector market plummeted to $X in 2021, reducing by -32.5% against the previous year. In general, consumption continues to indicate a significant contraction. As a result, consumption attained the peak level of $X. From 2016 to 2021, the growth of the market remained at a lower figure.

Video Projector Production in Africa

In value terms, video projector production fell notably to $X in 2021 estimated in export price. Over the period under review, production, however, posted significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 18,791% against the previous year. As a result, production reached the peak level of $X, and then declined significantly in the following year.

In 2021, overseas shipments of video projectors decreased by -36.6% to X units for the first time since 2018, thus ending a two-year rising trend. In general, exports faced a dramatic decrease. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 with an increase of 166%. The volume of export peaked at X units in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, video projector exports shrank to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports showed a abrupt curtailment. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when exports increased by 25% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports by Country

South Africa was the largest exporter of video projectors in Africa, with the volume of exports recording X units, which was approx. 62% of total exports in 2021. Rwanda (X units) held the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Egypt (X units). All these countries together held near 19% share of total exports. Kenya (X units), Botswana (X units) and Cote d'Ivoire (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to video projector exports from South Africa stood at -41.4%. At the same time, Botswana (+43.4%), Rwanda (+23.7%), Egypt (+8.2%) and Kenya (+7.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Botswana emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Africa, with a CAGR of +43.4% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Cote d'Ivoire (-14.0%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Rwanda (+14 p.p.), Egypt (+4.8 p.p.), Kenya (+4 p.p.), Botswana (+3.9 p.p.) and Cote d'Ivoire (+1.7 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while South Africa saw its share reduced by -37.4% from 2012 to 2021, respectively.

In value terms, South Africa ($X) remains the largest video projector supplier in Africa, comprising 80% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Egypt ($X), with a 4.8% share of total exports. It was followed by Kenya, with a 1.3% share.

In South Africa, video projector exports declined by an average annual rate of -6.5% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Egypt (+9.8% per year) and Kenya (-1.4% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2021, the export price in Africa amounted to $X per unit, rising by 52% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price showed a significant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when the export price increased by 1,619% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the maximum at $X per unit in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was South Africa ($X per unit), while Rwanda ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by South Africa (+59.8%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Imports in Africa

For the fourth year in a row, Africa recorded decline in supplies from abroad of video projectors, which decreased by -28.7% to X units in 2021. Over the period under review, imports saw a sharp descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when imports increased by 83% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X units. From 2016 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, video projector imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. In general, imports showed a perceptible curtailment. The level of import peaked at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country

In 2021, South Africa (X units), Nigeria (X units) and Senegal (X units) represented the largest importer of video projectors in Africa, achieving 68% of total import. It was distantly followed by Morocco (X units), achieving a 9.9% share of total imports. The following importers - Burkina Faso (X units), Cote d'Ivoire (X units), Egypt (X units), Tunisia (X units) and Ghana (X units) - each finished at a 9.7% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Nigeria (with a CAGR of +21.3%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest video projector importing markets in Africa were South Africa ($X), Morocco ($X) and Egypt ($X), together comprising 58% of total imports. Cote d'Ivoire, Tunisia, Ghana, Senegal, Nigeria and Burkina Faso lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 16%.

Cote d'Ivoire, with a CAGR of +25.3%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the import price in Africa amounted to $X per unit, growing by 68% against the previous year. In general, the import price continues to indicate significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when the import price increased by 2,504%. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs in 2021 and is likely to see gradual growth in the near future.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Tunisia ($X per unit), while Nigeria ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by South Africa (+56.0%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
