The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 193% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2021, and then fell remarkably in the following year.

In value terms, yautia (cocoyam) exports shrank remarkably to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, recorded a buoyant expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 203% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X in 2021, and then dropped remarkably in the following year.

Cameroon prevails in exports structure, amounting to X tons, which was approx. 96% of total exports in 2022. Uganda (X tons) took a relatively small share of total exports.

Cameroon was also the fastest-growing in terms of the yautia exports, with a CAGR of +42.2% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Uganda (+37.5%) displayed positive paces of growth. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Cameroon and Uganda increased by +80 and +3.1 percentage points, while the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

After two years of growth, supplies from abroad of yautia decreased by -42.6% to X tons in 2022. In general, imports recorded a mild decrease. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when imports increased by 374% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2015 to 2022, the growth of (cocoyam) imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, yautia (cocoyam) imports rose sharply to $X in 2022. Overall, imports saw a abrupt decline. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when imports increased by 214% against the previous year.
