For the third consecutive year, Algeria recorded decline in purchases abroad of concrete reinforcing bars, which decreased by -18.8% to X tons in 2022. In general, imports continue to indicate a dramatic shrinkage. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 when imports increased by 321%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, concrete reinforcing bar imports reduced rapidly to $X in 2022. Overall, imports showed a sharp descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 260% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

In 2022, Lithuania (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of concrete reinforcing bar to Algeria, accounting for a 41% share of total imports. Moreover, concrete reinforcing bar imports from Lithuania exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Poland (X tons), twofold. Latvia (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with an 8.6% share.
