Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at $X in 2021, and then shrank sharply in the following year.
Exports by Country
France (X cubic meters) was the main destination for rare gases exports from Algeria, with a 28% share of total exports. Moreover, rare gases exports to France exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Germany (X cubic meters), threefold. Israel (X cubic meters) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 5.5% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value to France was relatively modest. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Germany (+3.3% per year) and Israel (+54.2% per year).

In 2022, the average rare gases export price amounted to $X per cubic meter, with an increase of 4.9% against the previous year. Over the period under review, export price indicated buoyant growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +6.2% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, rare gases export price increased by +62.0% against 2017 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 an increase of 49%. The export price peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the countries with the highest prices were Ireland ($X per cubic meter) and Israel ($X per cubic meter), while the average price for exports to Germany ($X per cubic meter) and France ($X per cubic meter) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Ireland (+11.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Algeria
In 2022, rare gases imports into Algeria fell significantly to X cubic meters, dropping by -48.8% on 2021. Overall, imports saw a deep downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 194%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X cubic meters, and then declined markedly in the following year.
In value terms, rare gases imports fell remarkably to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports recorded a drastic downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when imports increased by 222% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2015 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

In 2022, France (X cubic meters) constituted the largest rare gases supplier to Algeria, accounting for a 44% share of total imports. Moreover, rare gases imports from France exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Italy (X cubic meters), sixfold.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from France totaled -6.5%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Italy (-5.4% per year) and Canada (-8.9% per year).
In value terms, France ($X) constituted the largest supplier of rare gases (excluding argon) to Algeria, comprising 48% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Italy ($X), with a 1.6% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value from France totaled -8.8%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Italy (-13.3% per year) and Canada (-8.0% per year).

The average rare gases import price stood at $X per cubic meter in 2022, with an increase of 29% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when the average import price increased by 80% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $X per cubic meter in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was France ($X per cubic meter), while the price for Italy ($X per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Tunisia (+44.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
