The Angolan blueberry and cranberry market declined markedly to $X in 2022, with a decrease of -17.7% against the previous year. This figure reflects the total revenues of producers and importers (excluding logistics costs, retail marketing costs, and retailers' margins, which will be included in the final consumer price). Overall, consumption, however, showed a remarkable increase. Blueberry and cranberry consumption peaked at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, consumption stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2022, approx. X tons of blueberries and cranberries were imported into Angola; falling by -12.9% compared with 2021 figures. Over the period under review, imports, however, posted a prominent expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when imports increased by 1,026%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2014 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, blueberry and cranberry imports dropped significantly to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, showed a significant increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when imports increased by 674% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

In 2022, Portugal (X tons) constituted the largest blueberry and cranberry supplier to Angola, accounting for a 74% share of total imports. Moreover, blueberry and cranberry imports from Portugal exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, South Africa (X kg), more than tenfold. France (X kg) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 5.3% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Portugal amounted to +19.6%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: South Africa (+0.6% per year) and France (+38.0% per year).

In value terms, the largest blueberry and cranberry suppliers to Angola were Portugal ($X), France ($X) and South Africa ($X), together accounting for 65% of total imports.

In terms of the main suppliers, France, with a CAGR of +53.4%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average blueberry and cranberry import price amounted to $X per ton, shrinking by -8.2% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import price indicated modest growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.5% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, blueberry and cranberry import price increased by +9.6% against 2020 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when the average import price increased by 38%. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was France ($X per ton), while the price for the United Arab Emirates ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by France (+11.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
