Carbon Dioxide Market Size in Angola

In 2022, the Angolan carbon dioxide market was finally on the rise to reach $X for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year declining trend. Overall, consumption, however, showed a sharp descent. Imports into Angola

For the fourth year in a row, Angola recorded decline in overseas purchases of carbon dioxide, which decreased by -3.2% to X tons in 2022. Overall, imports faced a sharp decrease. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when imports increased by 557%. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, carbon dioxide imports reached $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports recorded a dramatic decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when imports increased by 476% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

South Korea (X tons), China (X tons) and Congo (X kg) were the main suppliers of carbon dioxide imports to Angola, with a combined 88% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by South Korea (with a CAGR of -1.6%), while imports for the other leaders experienced a decline.

In value terms, Italy ($X), Switzerland ($X) and China ($X) constituted the largest carbon dioxide suppliers to Angola, together comprising 75% of total imports.

The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when the average import price increased by 30% against the previous year. The import price peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Switzerland ($X per ton), while the price for South Korea ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
