The average fresh whole chicken export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, with an increase of 124% against the previous year. Over the period under review, export price indicated resilient growth from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +5.3% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. In 2021, imports of fresh or chilled whole chickens into Angola fell to X tons, waning by -6.4% on the previous year's figure. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a significant expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when imports increased by 1,054%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, fresh whole chicken imports soared to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when imports increased by 973% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

Turkey (X tons), Brazil (X tons) and the United States (X tons) were the main suppliers of fresh whole chicken imports to Angola, with a combined 63% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Uruguay, Spain, Canada and Argentina, which together accounted for a further 32%.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Spain (with a CAGR of +112.7%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
