The Angolan prepared dish and meal market was finally on the rise to reach $X in 2021, after two years of decline. Overall, consumption, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. Prepared dish and meal consumption peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, consumption failed to regain momentum.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 2,061% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X tons. From 2020 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, prepared dish and meal exports declined dramatically to $X in 2021. Overall, exports saw a precipitous slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when exports increased by 1,627%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2020 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

Mozambique (X kg) was the main destination for prepared dish and meal exports from Angola, with a 76% share of total exports. Moreover, prepared dish and meal exports to Mozambique exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Namibia (X kg), eightfold. China (X kg) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 2.7% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume to Mozambique stood at -15.8%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Namibia (-29.3% per year) and China (-68.6% per year).
In value terms, Mozambique ($X) remains the key foreign market for prepared dishes and meals exports from Angola, comprising 91% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Cuba ($X), with a 1.9% share of total exports. It was followed by Namibia, with a 1.4% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value to Mozambique amounted to -15.2%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Cuba (-14.4% per year) and Namibia (-35.0% per year).

In 2021, the average prepared dish and meal export price amounted to $X per ton, rising by 31% against the previous year. Overall, the export price saw a buoyant expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when the average export price increased by 158%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2014 to 2021, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Mozambique ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Namibia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Mozambique (+0.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

Imports into Angola
In 2021, overseas purchases of prepared dishes and meals increased by 43% to X tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a two-year declining trend. In general, imports, however, saw a pronounced shrinkage. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when imports increased by 86%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, prepared dish and meal imports soared to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when imports increased by 171% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
Turkey (X tons), India (X tons) and Belgium (X tons) were the main suppliers of prepared dish and meal imports to Angola, with a combined 36% share of total imports. Portugal, South Africa, Spain, Egypt, Malta, Thailand and the United States lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 23%.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Egypt (with a CAGR of +62.9%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest prepared dish and meal suppliers to Angola were Portugal ($X), Belgium ($X) and Turkey ($X), with a combined 32% share of total imports. India, South Africa, Spain, Malta, the United States, Thailand and Egypt lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 19%.
Among the main suppliers, Egypt, with a CAGR of +45.7%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The average prepared dish and meal import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, with an increase of 19% against the previous year. In general, import price indicated tangible growth from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.5% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, prepared dish and meal import price decreased by -26.0% against 2018 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when the average import price increased by 46%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2019 to 2021, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($X per ton), while the price for Egypt ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
