Imports into Angola
In 2022, supplies from abroad of hats and other headgear increased by 766% to X units, rising for the second year in a row after three years of decline. Overall, imports posted buoyant growth. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at X units in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, hat and headgear imports soared to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, saw a noticeable decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 425%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2018 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
In 2022, China (X units) constituted the largest hat and headgear supplier to Angola, with a 90% share of total imports. It was followed by France (X units), with a 1.6% share of total imports. The United Arab Emirates (X units) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 1.6% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from China amounted to +10.6%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: France (+36.9% per year) and the United Arab Emirates (+24.5% per year).
