Wire And Cable Market Size in Angola

The Angolan wire and cable market was finally on the rise to reach $X in 2021, after four years of decline. In general, consumption, however, saw a abrupt contraction. Over the period under review, the market reached the maximum level at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, consumption failed to regain momentum.

After seven years of growth, overseas shipments of insulated wire and cable decreased by -31.7% to X tons in 2021. Overall, exports, however, posted a resilient increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 when exports increased by 113% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at X tons in 2020, and then dropped remarkably in the following year.

In value terms, wire and cable exports stood at $X in 2021. In general, exports, however, posted a remarkable increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when exports increased by 317% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2020 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Namibia (X tons), Congo (X tons) and Ghana (X tons) were the main destinations of wire and cable exports from Angola, together comprising 55% of total exports. The Netherlands, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Mozambique and Lebanon lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 28%.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Lebanon (with a CAGR of +168.7%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 when the average export price increased by 235%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2020 to 2021, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Lebanon ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Mozambique (+25.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

In 2021, overseas purchases of insulated wire and cable increased by 39% to X tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a two-year declining trend. In general, imports, however, saw a abrupt shrinkage. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
