Pineapple Market Size in Angola

In 2022, the Angolan pineapple market decreased by -0.1% to $X for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. In value terms, pineapple exports fell to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports enjoyed a strong increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when exports increased by 877%. Portugal (X tons) was the main destination for pineapple exports from Angola, with a 53% share of total exports. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when imports increased by 46% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, pineapple imports dropped dramatically to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a sharp slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when imports increased by 49% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2022, France (X kg) constituted the largest supplier of pineapple to Angola, with a 60% share of total imports. Moreover, pineapple imports from France exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Portugal (X kg), twofold. Namibia (X kg) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 9.8% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from France totaled -9.4%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Portugal (-31.6% per year) and Namibia (-5.8% per year).
