Exports from Angola

Plough exports from Angola contracted to X units in 2022, shrinking by -2.4% against the previous year. Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate significant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when exports increased by 200% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at X units in 2021, and then reduced in the following year.

In value terms, plough exports soared to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, posted a significant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 254% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, plough imports fell markedly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports saw a deep contraction. In 2022, Zimbabwe (X units) constituted the largest plough supplier to Angola, accounting for a 59% share of total imports. Moreover, plough imports from Zimbabwe exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Zambia (X units), threefold. Spain (X units) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 5.5% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from Zimbabwe amounted to -2.6%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Zambia (+4.2% per year) and Spain (+5.9% per year).

In value terms, Spain ($X) constituted the largest supplier of ploughs for agricultural purposes to Angola, comprising 48% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Zimbabwe ($X), with a 24% share of total imports. It was followed by Zambia, with an 8.7% share.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Spain ($X per unit), while the price for China ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
