Potato Market Size in Angola
After four years of decline, the Angolan potato market increased by 11% to $X in 2021. In general, consumption, however, showed a pronounced slump. As a result, consumption attained the peak level of $X. From 2017 to 2021, the growth of the market remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, potato exports reduced to $X in 2021. In general, exports, however, saw a precipitous setback. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when exports increased by 46%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Exports by Country
Democratic Republic of the Congo (X tons), Congo (X tons) and Spain (X tons) were the main destinations of potato exports from Angola, with a combined 91% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Spain (with a CAGR of +86.2%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Spain ($X), Democratic Republic of the Congo ($X) and South Africa ($X) constituted the largest markets for potato exported from Angola worldwide, together accounting for 79% of total exports. Congo and Liberia lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 7%.
Liberia, with a CAGR of +57.0%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the average potato export price amounted to $X per ton, which is down by -9.6% against the previous year. In general, the export price saw a noticeable curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 an increase of 32% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2018 to 2021, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was Spain ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Congo ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Democratic Republic of the Congo (-5.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Imports into Angola
Potato imports into Angola shrank to X tons in 2021, declining by -9.4% compared with the year before. Over the period under review, imports faced a deep downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 35% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, potato imports declined sharply to $X in 2021. Overall, imports continue to indicate a sharp decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 12% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

France (X tons), Israel (X tons) and South Africa (X tons) were the main suppliers of potato imports to Angola, with a combined 55% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Israel (with a CAGR of +124.4%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest potato suppliers to Angola were Israel ($X), France ($X) and South Africa ($X), with a combined 56% share of total imports.
In terms of the main suppliers, Israel, with a CAGR of +105.4%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the average potato import price amounted to $X per ton, dropping by -13% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price showed a pronounced decline. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when the average import price increased by 34% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $X per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($X per ton), while the price for Egypt ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (+1.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
