Nigeria (X tons) was the main destination for lubricant additives exports from Angola, accounting for a 99% share of total exports. It was followed by Congo (X kg), with a 0.3% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Nigeria stood at -18.1%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Congo (-56.0% per year) and the United States (-57.7% per year).
In value terms, Nigeria ($X) remains the key foreign market for prepared additives for mineral oils exports from Angola, comprising 100% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Congo ($X), with a 0.1% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Nigeria stood at -26.4%.

The average lubricant additives export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, shrinking by -48.8% against the previous year. In general, the export price recorded a noticeable decrease. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 an increase of 57%. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Nigeria ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Congo ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United States (+1.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Imports into Angola
In 2021, supplies from abroad of prepared additives for mineral oils increased by 115% to X tons, rising for the second consecutive year after two years of decline. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a noticeable setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 497%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, lubricant additives imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, recorded a pronounced shrinkage. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 349%. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
France (X tons), the United States (X tons) and Belgium (X tons) were the main suppliers of lubricant additives imports to Angola, together comprising 87% of total imports. South Africa, Portugal, the Netherlands and the UK lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 9.2%.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by South Africa (with a CAGR of +22.0%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, France ($X), the United States ($X) and Belgium ($X) appeared to be the largest lubricant additives suppliers to Angola, with a combined 82% share of total imports. Portugal, South Africa, the UK and the Netherlands lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 12%.

Over the period under review, the import price recorded a perceptible downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 an increase of 22% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $X per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Portugal ($X per ton), while the price for the Netherlands ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
