In 2021, exports of refrigerating and freezing equipment and heat pumps (except household type equipment) from Angola rose significantly to X units, surging by 13% compared with 2020 figures. Overall, exports continue to indicate a modest expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 with an increase of 59%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X units. From 2020 to 2021, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, commercial refrigeration equipment exports rose significantly to $X in 2021. In general, exports, however, showed a abrupt downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 with an increase of 50% against the previous year. The exports peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Exports by Country
Democratic Republic of the Congo (X units), the UK (X units) and Sao Tome and Principe (X units) were the main destinations of commercial refrigeration equipment exports from Angola, with a combined 88% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Congo, Portugal and the Netherlands, which together accounted for a further 7%.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for the Netherlands (with a CAGR of +38.0%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest markets for commercial refrigeration equipment exported from Angola were the UK ($X), Democratic Republic of the Congo ($X) and Congo ($X), together comprising 85% of total exports. Sao Tome and Principe, Portugal and the Netherlands lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 6.7%.
The Netherlands, with a CAGR of +89.1%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, in terms of the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average commercial refrigeration equipment export price stood at $X per unit in 2021, flattening at the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price saw a abrupt slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 an increase of 33% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Congo ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Sao Tome and Principe ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the UK (+19.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

Imports into Angola
Commercial refrigeration equipment imports into Angola skyrocketed to X units in 2021, rising by 53% compared with the year before. In general, imports, however, showed a noticeable curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 229%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X units in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, commercial refrigeration equipment imports soared to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, saw a deep contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 97% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2021, China (X units) constituted the largest commercial refrigeration equipment supplier to Angola, with a 37% share of total imports. Moreover, commercial refrigeration equipment imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Portugal (X units), twofold. The third position in this ranking was held by Lebanon (X units), with a 4.7% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from China amounted to -4.8%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Portugal (-6.5% per year) and Lebanon (+16.6% per year).
In value terms, the largest commercial refrigeration equipment suppliers to Angola were Portugal ($X), China ($X) and Italy ($X), with a combined 46% share of total imports. These countries were followed by France, Lebanon, Greece, South Africa, Turkey, Ireland, Mexico and Spain, which together accounted for a further 15%.
Mexico, with a CAGR of +40.1%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the average commercial refrigeration equipment import price amounted to $X per unit, rising by 13% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, recorded a mild curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 an increase of 60% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2017 to 2021, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was France ($X per unit), while the price for Spain ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
