After three years of decline, the Argentinian lubricating oil additive market increased by 21% to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, consumption, however, saw a noticeable curtailment. The exports peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, lubricating oil additive imports surged to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, showed a perceptible setback. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2021, the United States (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of lubricating oil additive to Argentina, accounting for a 50% share of total imports. Moreover, lubricating oil additive imports from the United States exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Brazil (X tons), threefold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Italy (X tons), with an 11% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from the United States totaled -2.1%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Brazil (-4.7% per year) and Italy (+3.1% per year).
