Exports by Country
Uruguay (X units), the United States (X units) and Brazil (X units) were the main destinations of electronic chip exports from Argentina, together accounting for 93% of total exports. Paraguay, Mexico and Chile lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 5.4%.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Paraguay (with a CAGR of +32.8%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.

In 2021, electronic chip imports into Argentina stood at X units, growing by 13% compared with the previous year. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a abrupt contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 36% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X units in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, electronic chip imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, showed a noticeable decrease. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 with an increase of 51%. In 2021, China (X units) constituted the largest supplier of electronic chip to Argentina, accounting for a 49% share of total imports. Moreover, electronic chip imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Taiwan (Chinese) (X units), twofold. South Korea (X units) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 10% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from China amounted to -6.7%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Taiwan (Chinese) (-0.4% per year) and South Korea (-2.0% per year).
In value terms, China ($X), Malaysia ($X) and Vietnam ($X) were the largest electronic chip suppliers to Argentina, with a combined 72% share of total imports.
In terms of the main suppliers, Vietnam, with a CAGR of +47.7%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the average electronic chip import price amounted to $X per thousand units, with an increase of 18% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import price indicated pronounced growth from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.7% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, electronic chip import price increased by +60.8% against 2018 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 an increase of 31% against the previous year.
