Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a pronounced decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when imports increased by 27%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2016 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, folding boxboard imports rose modestly to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, saw a pronounced descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 21% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
Chile (X tons), Brazil (X tons) and the United States (X tons) were the main suppliers of folding boxboard imports to Argentina, together accounting for 71% of total imports. These countries were followed by Sweden, Finland, China, Germany and South Africa, which together accounted for a further 19%.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Finland (with a CAGR of +7.8%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
