Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, oleo oils exports shrank sharply to $X in 2021. Overall, exports saw a mild reduction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when exports increased by 161% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.
Exports by Country
Uruguay (X tons) was the main destination for oleo oils exports from Argentina, accounting for a 84% share of total exports. Moreover, oleo oils exports to Uruguay exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Nigeria (X tons), more than tenfold. Aruba (X tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 6.8% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Uruguay amounted to +58.4%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Nigeria (-23.2% per year) and Aruba (+36.6% per year).
In value terms, the largest markets for oleo oils exported from Argentina were Uruguay ($X), Aruba ($X) and Nigeria ($X), with a combined 98% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Chile, which accounted for a further 1.8%.
Chile, with a CAGR of +654.0%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, in terms of the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the average export price increased by 36%. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Aruba ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Nigeria ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Chile (+57.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

In 2021, the amount of lard stearin, lard oil, oleostearin, oleo-oil and tallow oil imported into Argentina declined to X tons, falling by -9.4% on the previous year's figure. Over the period under review, imports, however, enjoyed a strong expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when imports increased by 820%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2020, and then shrank in the following year.
In value terms, oleo oils imports fell remarkably to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, posted a slight increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 789% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2018 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
