From 2019 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Exports by Country
Spain (X tons) was the main destination for melon exports from Argentina, accounting for a 63% share of total exports. Moreover, melon exports to Spain exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Chile (X tons), fourfold. Uruguay (X tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with an 8.7% share.

In value terms, Spain ($X) remains the key foreign market for melons exports from Argentina, comprising 70% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Norway ($X), with an 11% share of total exports. It was followed by Uruguay, with a 6.7% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Spain totaled +30.4%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Norway (+42.8% per year) and Uruguay (+5.2% per year).

The average melon export price stood at $X per ton in 2022, almost unchanged from the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, saw a slight increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when the average export price increased by 59%. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Norway ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Chile ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

In value terms, melon imports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, saw a resilient expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 114% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In 2022, Brazil (X tons) was the main melon supplier to Argentina, with a approx. 100% share of total imports.
