In 2021, the Argentinian piano market increased by 18% to $X, rising for the second year in a row after two years of decline. In general, consumption, however, showed a slight decrease. Piano consumption peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, consumption failed to regain momentum.

After three years of decline, overseas shipments of pianos and other keyboard stringed musical instruments increased by 114% to X tons in 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when exports increased by 149% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, piano exports surged to $X in 2021. In general, exports, however, saw a pronounced downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 121% against the previous year. The exports peaked at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

The United States (X kg), the UK (X kg) and Colombia (X kg) were the main destinations of piano exports from Argentina, with a combined 85% share of total exports.

In 2021, overseas purchases of pianos and other keyboard stringed musical instruments increased by 16% to X tons, rising for the second consecutive year after five years of decline. In general, imports, however, recorded a mild reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 74% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, piano imports surged to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a slight contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 61%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

Indonesia (X tons), Japan (X tons) and China (X tons) were the main suppliers of piano imports to Argentina, with a combined 73% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Malaysia, the United States, Germany and Panama, which together accounted for a further 13%.
