The Argentinian primary cell and battery market skyrocketed to $X in 2022, picking up by 41% against the previous year. This figure reflects the total revenues of producers and importers (excluding logistics costs, retail marketing costs, and retailers' margins, which will be included in the final consumer price). Overall, consumption, however, recorded a mild contraction. Over the period under review, the market attained the peak level at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, consumption failed to regain momentum.

Moreover, primary cell and battery exports to Paraguay exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Venezuela (X units), tenfold. The third position in this ranking was held by Chile (X units), with a 3.8% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume to Paraguay stood at +5.0%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Venezuela (-29.7% per year) and Chile (-27.7% per year).

In value terms, Paraguay ($X) remains the key foreign market for primary cells and batteries exports from Argentina, comprising 27% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by the United States ($X), with an 11% share of total exports. It was followed by Venezuela, with a 1.4% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Paraguay totaled +12.0%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the United States (-13.9% per year) and Venezuela (-35.9% per year).

The average primary cell and battery export price stood at $X per unit in 2022, dropping by -48.8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, recorded a strong expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when the average export price increased by 360% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per unit, and then dropped rapidly in the following year.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Venezuela ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Paraguay (+6.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

In 2022, the amount of primary cells and batteries imported into Argentina surged to X units, picking up by 35% against the year before. In general, imports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. Imports peaked at X units in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($X per unit), while the price for Singapore ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
