After four years of decline, overseas shipments of rare gases (excluding argon) increased by 1,417% to X cubic meters in 2022. Overall, exports, however, showed a dramatic shrinkage. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at X cubic meters in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Uruguay (X cubic meters), Paraguay (X cubic meters) and Bolivia (X cubic meters) were the main destinations of rare gases exports from Argentina, together accounting for 85% of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Bolivia (with a CAGR of +14.7%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced a decline.
In value terms, Uruguay ($X) remains the key foreign market for rare gases (excluding argon) exports from Argentina, comprising 74% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Paraguay ($X), with a 12% share of total exports. It was followed by Bolivia, with a 9.7% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Uruguay amounted to -4.8%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Paraguay (+2.3% per year) and Bolivia (+18.8% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the average rare gases export price amounted to $X per cubic meter, shrinking by -29.4% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, showed a remarkable increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 an increase of 273% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per cubic meter. From 2019 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Uruguay ($X per cubic meter), while the average price for exports to Chile ($X per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Senegal (+33.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Argentina
In 2022, approx. X cubic meters of rare gases (excluding argon) were imported into Argentina; which is down by -34.1% on 2021 figures. In general, imports showed a abrupt downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 23% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X cubic meters in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, rare gases imports dropped to $X in 2022. Overall, imports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 with an increase of 36% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
In 2022, the United States (X cubic meters) constituted the largest supplier of rare gases to Argentina, with a 46% share of total imports. Moreover, rare gases imports from the United States exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, the Netherlands (X cubic meters), fourfold. Algeria (X cubic meters) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 7.6% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from the United States amounted to -14.2%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the Netherlands (+76.3% per year) and Algeria (+1.7% per year).
In value terms, the United States ($X) constituted the largest supplier of rare gases (excluding argon) to Argentina, comprising 65% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Algeria ($X), with a 9.8% share of total imports. It was followed by the Netherlands, with a 5.6% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value from the United States totaled -3.6%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Algeria (+8.6% per year) and the Netherlands (+63.1% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the average rare gases import price amounted to $X per cubic meter, rising by 36% against the previous year. Overall, the import price posted a resilient expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when the average import price increased by 72%. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum in 2022 and is likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($X per cubic meter), while the price for China ($X per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.
