Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, sweet potato imports reduced rapidly to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, saw a buoyant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when imports increased by 157% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In 2021, Brazil (X tons) was the main sweet potato supplier to Argentina, accounting for a 153% share of total imports. Moreover, sweet potato imports from Brazil exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Paraguay (X tons), more than tenfold.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from Brazil totaled +31.3%.

In value terms, Brazil ($X) constituted the largest supplier of sweet potatoes to Argentina, comprising 97% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Paraguay ($X), with a 1.5% share of total imports.
