Italy (X tons) was the main destination for walnut exports from Argentina, with a 51% share of total exports. Moreover, walnut exports to Italy exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Turkey (X tons), fourfold. The United Arab Emirates (X tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with an 11% share.

In value terms, Italy ($X) remains the key foreign market for walnut exports from Argentina, comprising 48% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Turkey ($X), with a 14% share of total exports. It was followed by the United Arab Emirates, with a 12% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value to Italy amounted to -1.9%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Turkey (+6.9% per year) and the United Arab Emirates (+26.3% per year).

The average walnut export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, shrinking by -12.8% against the previous year. In general, the export price continues to indicate a abrupt descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 an increase of 19%. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Russia ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Chile ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Chile (+1.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

In 2021, after six years of growth, there was significant decline in supplies from abroad of walnuts, when their volume decreased by -53.4% to X tons. Overall, imports, however, posted a mild expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 699%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons, and then reduced sharply in the following year.
In value terms, walnut imports fell notably to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports saw a pronounced decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 369% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X, and then dropped markedly in the following year.

In 2021, Chile (X tons) constituted the largest walnut supplier to Argentina, with a 73% share of total imports. Moreover, walnut imports from Chile exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, the United Arab Emirates (X tons), threefold.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from Chile was relatively modest. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the United Arab Emirates (-76.6% per year) and the United States (-13.4% per year).
