Brazil (X cubic meters) was the main destination for wood chips and particles exports from Argentina, accounting for a 56% share of total exports. Moreover, wood chips and particles exports to Brazil exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, the United States (X cubic meters), threefold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Ireland (X cubic meters), with a 17% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Brazil amounted to +13.6%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the United States (+4.3% per year) and Ireland (-4.3% per year).

Imports into Argentina
In 2022, supplies from abroad of wood chips and particles decreased by -19.6% to X cubic meters for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year rising trend. Over the period under review, imports saw a abrupt curtailment. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 185% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at X cubic meters in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, wood chips and particles imports rose modestly to $X in 2022. Overall, total imports indicated a modest increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +1.3% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +42.6% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 39% against the previous year.
