The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, adhesive dressings exports surged to $X in 2021. Total exports indicated a resilient increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +7.2% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports decreased by -3.1% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when exports increased by 55%. From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the leading exporting countries, was attained by Singapore (with a CAGR of +17.4%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest adhesive dressings supplying countries in ASEAN were Singapore ($X), Thailand ($X) and Vietnam ($X), with a combined 93% share of total exports.
Singapore, with a CAGR of +20.6%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, among the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Over the period under review, the export prices reached the peak figure at $X per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was Singapore ($X per ton), while Indonesia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Singapore (+2.7%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in ASEAN
Adhesive dressings imports surged to X tons in 2021, rising by 21% compared with the previous year's figure. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a resilient increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 with an increase of 24%. The volume of import peaked in 2021 and is likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, adhesive dressings imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Total imports indicated buoyant growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +6.8% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 28%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
Malaysia was the largest importer of adhesive dressings or similar articles in ASEAN, with the volume of imports finishing at X tons, which was approx. 36% of total imports in 2021. The Philippines (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total imports with a 17% share, followed by Singapore (14%), Vietnam (14%), Indonesia (5.4%), Thailand (5.3%) and Myanmar (4.6%).
Imports into Malaysia increased at an average annual rate of +13.1% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Indonesia (+14.9%), the Philippines (+13.6%), Myanmar (+6.0%) and Vietnam (+1.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Indonesia emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in ASEAN, with a CAGR of +14.9% from 2012-2021. Singapore and Thailand experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. While the share of Malaysia (+14 p.p.), the Philippines (+6.8 p.p.) and Indonesia (+2.5 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2021, the share of Thailand (-4.9 p.p.), Vietnam (-8.5 p.p.) and Singapore (-10.4 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Singapore ($X), Malaysia ($X) and Vietnam ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, with a combined 67% share of total imports. The Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia and Myanmar lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 32%.
Indonesia, with a CAGR of +21.8%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the import price in ASEAN amounted to $X per ton, rising by 4.9% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 an increase of 5.9% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.
