In 2022, the amount of albums for samples, collections, stamps or photographs exported in ASEAN surged to X tons, picking up by 22% on the previous year. In general, exports, however, showed a noticeable contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 31% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, stamp and photo collection album exports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. Overall, exports, however, recorded a noticeable reduction. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.
Exports by Country
In 2022, Vietnam (X tons) represented the key exporter of albums for samples, collections, stamps or photographs, making up 50% of total exports. Indonesia (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a 27% share, followed by Thailand (11%) and Malaysia (7.5%). The Philippines (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Malaysia (with a CAGR of +10.2%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest stamp and photo collection album supplying countries in ASEAN were Indonesia ($X), Vietnam ($X) and Thailand ($X), together accounting for 89% of total exports. The Philippines and Malaysia lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 8%.
Malaysia, with a CAGR of +10.7%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, among the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the exports figures.

The export price in ASEAN stood at $X per ton in 2022, jumping by 21% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 37%. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the Philippines ($X per ton), while Malaysia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Indonesia (+9.7%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.
Imports of Albums For Samples, Collections, Stamps Or Photographs
Imports in ASEAN
In 2022, purchases abroad of albums for samples, collections, stamps or photographs decreased by -12.5% to X tons, falling for the third year in a row after two years of growth. Over the period under review, imports showed a abrupt decline. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 with an increase of 143%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2014 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, stamp and photo collection album imports shrank modestly to $X in 2022. In general, imports continue to indicate a perceptible setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 25% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2014 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
Malaysia represented the main importer of albums for samples, collections, stamps or photographs in ASEAN, with the volume of imports accounting for X tons, which was near 46% of total imports in 2022. Singapore (X tons) took the second position in the ranking, followed by Thailand (X tons), Vietnam (X tons) and Indonesia (X tons). All these countries together held approx. 46% share of total imports. The Philippines (X tons) and Cambodia (X tons) took a relatively small share of total imports.
Imports into Malaysia decreased at an average annual rate of -6.4% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Cambodia (+22.5%) and Vietnam (+2.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Cambodia emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in ASEAN, with a CAGR of +22.5% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Indonesia (-4.4%), Singapore (-5.4%), Thailand (-8.7%) and the Philippines (-16.8%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Vietnam (+5.1 p.p.), Singapore (+2.4 p.p.), Cambodia (+1.9 p.p.) and Malaysia (+1.5 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Thailand and the Philippines saw its share reduced by -3% and -7.9% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, the largest stamp and photo collection album importing markets in ASEAN were Thailand ($X), Malaysia ($X) and Singapore ($X), together accounting for 70% of total imports. Vietnam, Indonesia, the Philippines and Cambodia lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 28%.
In terms of the main importing countries, Cambodia, with a CAGR of +29.1%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the import price in ASEAN amounted to $X per ton, surging by 10% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price enjoyed moderate growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 46%. The level of import peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Thailand ($X per ton), while Malaysia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Philippines (+17.0%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
