Aniline Derivatives Market Size in ASEAN

In 2021, after two years of decline, there was significant growth in the ASEAN aniline derivatives market, when its value increased by 28% to $X. The total consumption indicated a pronounced increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +2.8% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, consumption decreased by -5.6% against 2017 indices. The level of consumption peaked at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, consumption remained at a lower figure.

Aniline Derivatives Production in ASEAN

In value terms, aniline derivatives production totaled $X in 2021 estimated in export price. The total production indicated a slight increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +1.4% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, production decreased by -39.9% against 2016 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when the production volume increased by 30% against the previous year. The level of production peaked at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, production stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Aniline Derivatives Exports

Exports in ASEAN

In 2021, shipments abroad of aniline derivatives and their salts increased by 10% to X tons, rising for the second consecutive year after two years of decline. In general, exports, however, showed a significant decrease. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of 172% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, aniline derivatives exports soared to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw a precipitous decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 140%. The level of export peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports by Country

Malaysia represented the key exporting country with an export of about X tons, which recorded 73% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Singapore (X tons), achieving a 23% share of total exports. Indonesia (X kg) took a relatively small share of total exports.

Malaysia was also the fastest-growing in terms of the aniline derivatives and their salts exports, with a CAGR of -4.1% from 2012 to 2021. Indonesia (-36.1%) and Singapore (-39.3%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Malaysia increased by +68 percentage points.

In value terms, Singapore ($X) remains the largest aniline derivatives supplier in ASEAN, comprising 74% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Malaysia ($X), with a 25% share of total exports.

In Singapore, aniline derivatives exports declined by an average annual rate of -27.7% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Malaysia (-13.2% per year) and Indonesia (-45.3% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The export price in ASEAN stood at $X per ton in 2021, increasing by 13% against the previous year. In general, the export price saw a temperate expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 when the export price increased by 174% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Singapore ($X per ton), while Indonesia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Singapore (+19.0%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Aniline Derivatives Imports

Imports in ASEAN

After two years of decline, supplies from abroad of aniline derivatives and their salts increased by 83% to X tons in 2021. In general, imports showed a buoyant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 with an increase of 113%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, aniline derivatives imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Overall, imports enjoyed a measured expansion. The level of import peaked at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country

Vietnam represented the major importing country with an import of about X tons, which accounted for 76% of total imports. Indonesia (X tons) took an 11% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Thailand (8.9%). Cambodia (X tons) took a minor share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to aniline derivatives imports into Vietnam stood at +17.2%. At the same time, Cambodia (+48.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Cambodia emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in ASEAN, with a CAGR of +48.7% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Thailand (-2.2%) and Indonesia (-10.2%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Vietnam and Cambodia increased by +46 and +2.3 percentage points, respectively.

In value terms, Vietnam ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported aniline derivatives and their salts in ASEAN, comprising 54% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Indonesia ($X), with a 23% share of total imports. It was followed by Thailand, with a 13% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Vietnam totaled +14.0%. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Indonesia (-4.6% per year) and Thailand (+0.6% per year).

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the import price in ASEAN amounted to $X per ton, increasing by 12% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, saw a slight descent. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when the import price increased by 15%. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Indonesia ($X per ton), while Vietnam ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Indonesia (+6.2%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the import price figures.
