The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when exports increased by 550% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, antimony and articles thereof exports amounted to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports showed a significant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 with an increase of 573% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at $X in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Export Prices by Country

The export price in ASEAN stood at $X per ton in 2022, declining by -1.8% against the previous year. Export price indicated tangible growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.8% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, antimony and articles thereof export price decreased by -2.6% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when the export price increased by 30% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Vietnam ($X per ton), while Malaysia amounted to $X per ton.

Imports in ASEAN

For the fifth consecutive year, ASEAN recorded decline in overseas purchases of antimony and articles thereof, which decreased by -1.3% to X tons in 2022. Overall, imports showed a deep downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 2,871% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2018 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, antimony and articles thereof imports reached $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports saw a abrupt shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 3,231% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2018 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country

Malaysia was the key importer of antimony and articles thereof in ASEAN, with the volume of imports amounting to X tons, which was near 75% of total imports in 2022. Indonesia (X tons) took a 19% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Thailand (5.3%).

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to antimony and articles thereof imports into Malaysia stood at +12.6%. At the same time, Thailand (+47.5%) and Indonesia (+3.9%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Thailand emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in ASEAN, with a CAGR of +47.5% from 2012-2022. Malaysia (+63 p.p.), Indonesia (+12 p.p.) and Thailand (+5.3 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Malaysia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported antimony and articles thereof in ASEAN, comprising 73% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Indonesia ($X), with an 18% share of total imports.

In Malaysia, antimony and articles thereof imports increased at an average annual rate of +16.2% over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Indonesia (+4.8% per year) and Thailand (+44.4% per year).

Import Prices by Country

The import price in ASEAN stood at $X per ton in 2022, with an increase of 15% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 when the import price increased by 101%. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Thailand ($X per ton), while Indonesia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Malaysia (+3.2%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the import price figures.
