The ASEAN non-malleable cast iron articles market declined to $X in 2022, with a decrease of -5.7% against the previous year. Over the period under review, consumption showed a perceptible shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 150%. The volume of export peaked in 2022 and is likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, non-malleable cast iron articles exports contracted to $X in 2022. In general, exports posted a buoyant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 67% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X, and then declined in the following year.

Exports by Country

Myanmar represented the major exporter of articles of non-malleable cast iron in ASEAN, with the volume of exports finishing at X tons, which was approx. 77% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Vietnam (X tons), mixing up an 18% share of total exports. Singapore (X tons) took a little share of total exports.

In terms of the main exporting countries, Myanmar, with a CAGR of +56.0%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

In 2022, the export price in ASEAN amounted to $X per ton, reducing by -49.7% against the previous year. Overall, the export price recorded a abrupt descent. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when the export price increased by 5.9% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the maximum at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Singapore ($X per ton), while Myanmar ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Singapore (+4.8%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Imports in ASEAN

In 2022, imports of articles of non-malleable cast iron in ASEAN contracted modestly to X tons, stabilizing at the previous year's figure. Total imports indicated buoyant growth from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +10.0% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +25.2% against 2020 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 57%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2021, and then reduced slightly in the following year.

In value terms, non-malleable cast iron articles imports rose rapidly to $X in 2022. Total imports indicated a prominent expansion from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +9.7% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +47.7% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when imports increased by 40%. The level of import peaked in 2022 and is likely to see steady growth in years to come.

Imports by Country

In 2022, Indonesia (X tons), Vietnam (X tons), Thailand (X tons), Malaysia (X tons), the Philippines (X tons) and Singapore (X tons) represented the key importer of articles of non-malleable cast iron in ASEAN, generating 90% of total import. It was distantly followed by Brunei Darussalam (X tons), making up a 4.8% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Vietnam (with a CAGR of +32.5%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest non-malleable cast iron articles importing markets in ASEAN were Indonesia ($X), Vietnam ($X) and Thailand ($X), together comprising 60% of total imports.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Thailand ($X per ton), while Brunei Darussalam ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
