From 2015 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, baby clothes exports rose markedly to $X in 2022. In general, exports showed a pronounced setback. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when exports increased by 16% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. Vietnam was the key exporting country with an export of about X tons, which resulted at 40% of total exports. Thailand (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a 25% share, followed by Cambodia (15%), Indonesia (8.9%) and Myanmar (6.3%). Malaysia (X tons) and the Philippines (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Myanmar (with a CAGR of +50.9%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Vietnam ($X) remains the largest baby clothes supplier in ASEAN, comprising 51% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Cambodia ($X), with a 16% share of total exports. It was followed by Indonesia, with an 11% share.

In Vietnam, baby clothes exports expanded at an average annual rate of +3.2% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Cambodia (+9.9% per year) and Indonesia (-12.4% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2022, the export price in ASEAN amounted to $X per ton, jumping by 18% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.9%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the Philippines ($X per ton), while Thailand ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

Total imports indicated a noticeable increase from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.0% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +19.8% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when imports increased by 85% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, baby clothes imports surged to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a buoyant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 42% against the previous year. The level of import peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

Imports by Country

Thailand represented the key importer of babies clothing and accessories (not knitted or crocheted) in ASEAN, with the volume of imports resulting at X tons, which was approx. 71% of total imports in 2022. Brunei Darussalam (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total imports with an 11% share, followed by Singapore (7.9%) and Malaysia (4.9%). Indonesia (X tons) held a little share of total imports.

Thailand was also the fastest-growing in terms of the babies clothing and accessories (not knitted or crocheted) imports, with a CAGR of +30.8% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Brunei Darussalam (+7.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. By contrast, Malaysia (-2.7%), Singapore (-9.5%) and Indonesia (-16.2%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. In value terms, Thailand ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported babies clothing and accessories (not knitted or crocheted) in ASEAN, comprising 70% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Malaysia ($X), with an 11% share of total imports. It was followed by Singapore, with a 9.8% share.

In Thailand, baby clothes imports increased at an average annual rate of +43.0% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Malaysia (+10.1% per year) and Singapore (-8.0% per year).

Import Prices by Country

In 2022, the import price in ASEAN amounted to $X per ton, jumping by 29% against the previous year. In general, the import price posted prominent growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when the import price increased by 32% against the previous year.
