Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Thailand ($X per ton), while Vietnam ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

Imports in ASEAN

Beet-pulp and bagasse imports declined to X tons in 2022, with a decrease of -7.3% against the previous year's figure. In general, imports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 129%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2019 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, beet-pulp and bagasse imports expanded slightly to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, enjoyed notable growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when imports increased by 120%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2019 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

In 2022, Singapore (X tons) represented the main importer of beet-pulp and bagasse, generating 57% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Thailand (X tons), generating a 33% share of total imports. Cambodia (X tons) and the Philippines (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the key importing countries, was attained by Cambodia (with a CAGR of +39.8%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest beet-pulp and bagasse importing markets in ASEAN were Thailand ($X), Singapore ($X) and the Philippines ($X), with a combined 93% share of total imports.

The import price in ASEAN stood at $X per ton in 2022, with an increase of 12% against the previous year. Import price indicated a pronounced expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +4.1% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, beet-pulp and bagasse import price increased by +41.1% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when the import price increased by 48%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2016 to 2022, the import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Philippines ($X per ton), while Cambodia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
