Brassiere Market Size in ASEAN
In 2021, the ASEAN brassiere market decreased by -8.7% to $X, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. Over the period under review, consumption showed a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, the market hit record highs at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, consumption failed to regain momentum.
Brassiere Production in ASEAN
In value terms, brassiere production rose markedly to $X in 2021 estimated in export price. The total production indicated a moderate expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.4% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, production decreased by -7.8% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of 34%. The level of production peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, production failed to regain momentum.

Exports in ASEAN
In 2021, the amount of brassieres of textile materials, whether or not elasticated exported in ASEAN soared to X units, picking up by 27% against 2020 figures. Total exports indicated a remarkable increase from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +8.4% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, brassiere exports surged to $X in 2021. In general, exports enjoyed buoyant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 27%. The level of export peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.
Exports by Country
Vietnam (X units) and Indonesia (X units) prevails in exports structure, together creating 78% of total exports. Cambodia (X units) ranks next in terms of the total exports with a 9% share, followed by Thailand (7.9%).
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Cambodia (with a CAGR of +34.7%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Vietnam ($X) remains the largest brassiere supplier in ASEAN, comprising 51% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Indonesia ($X), with a 25% share of total exports. It was followed by Cambodia, with a 9.3% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Vietnam amounted to +21.2%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Indonesia (+5.9% per year) and Cambodia (+37.6% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the export price in ASEAN amounted to $X per unit, declining by -8.5% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2021, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.2%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 an increase of 6%. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs at $X per unit in 2020, and then reduced in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Vietnam ($X per unit), while Indonesia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Cambodia (+2.1%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Imports in ASEAN
In 2021, after two years of decline, there was significant growth in overseas purchases of brassieres of textile materials, whether or not elasticated, when their volume increased by 15% to X units. Overall, imports enjoyed buoyant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 when imports increased by 48% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, brassiere imports surged to $X in 2021. Total imports indicated a notable expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.9% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports decreased by -20.9% against 2018 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 79% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
Indonesia was the largest importer of brassieres of textile materials, whether or not elasticated in ASEAN, with the volume of imports recording X units, which was approx. 50% of total imports in 2021. Thailand (X units) ranks second in terms of the total imports with a 23% share, followed by Malaysia (17%). Singapore (X units), Cambodia (X units) and the Philippines (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to brassiere imports into Indonesia stood at +8.0%. At the same time, Cambodia (+23.4%), Malaysia (+11.5%) and Thailand (+1.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Cambodia emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in ASEAN, with a CAGR of +23.4% from 2012-2021. Singapore experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, the Philippines (-3.6%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Indonesia (+8 p.p.), Malaysia (+6.2 p.p.) and Cambodia (+1.8 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Singapore, the Philippines and Thailand saw its share reduced by -2.2%, -3% and -10.6% from 2012 to 2021, respectively.
In value terms, the largest brassiere importing markets in ASEAN were Indonesia ($X), Thailand ($X) and Malaysia ($X), with a combined 64% share of total imports. Singapore, the Philippines and Cambodia lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 27%.
In terms of the main importing countries, Cambodia, with a CAGR of +25.8%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in ASEAN stood at $X per unit in 2021, with an increase of 4.5% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, recorded a slight downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when the import price increased by 46%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per unit. From 2014 to 2021, the import prices remained at a lower figure.
