Over the period under review, production attained the maximum level at $X in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, production remained at a lower figure.

In 2022, exports of butanol in ASEAN contracted rapidly to X tons, declining by X% compared with the previous year. Overall, exports saw a noticeable reduction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, butanol exports contracted markedly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate a perceptible downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of X% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Exports by Country
Malaysia dominates exports structure, amounting to X tons, which was approx. X% of total exports in 2022. Indonesia (X tons) held the second position in the ranking, followed by the Philippines (X tons). All these countries together took near X% share of total exports. Thailand (X tons) and Singapore (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to butanol exports from Malaysia stood at X%. At the same time, the Philippines (X.4%) and Thailand (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, the Philippines emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in ASEAN, with a CAGR of X.4% from 2012-2022. Indonesia experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Singapore (X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. The Philippines (X p.p.), Malaysia (X p.p.), Indonesia (X p.p.) and Thailand (X p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Singapore saw its share reduced by X% from 2012 to 2022, respectively.
In value terms, Malaysia ($X) remains the largest butanol supplier in ASEAN, comprising X% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Indonesia ($X), with a X% share of total exports. It was followed by the Philippines, with a X% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in Malaysia totaled X%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Indonesia (X% per year) and the Philippines (X.0% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The export price in ASEAN stood at $X per ton in 2022, with an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, showed a mild contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 an increase of X% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Singapore ($X per ton), while Thailand ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Singapore (X%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Imports in ASEAN
In 2022, imports of butanol in ASEAN fell sharply to X tons, reducing by X% against the previous year's figure. Over the period under review, imports recorded a pronounced downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of X%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons, and then dropped notably in the following year.
In value terms, butanol imports declined significantly to $X in 2022. In general, imports continue to indicate a perceptible decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X, and then shrank rapidly in the following year.
Imports by Country
The purchases of the three major importers of butanol, namely Singapore, Indonesia and Thailand, represented more than two-thirds of total import. It was distantly followed by Vietnam (X tons), achieving a X% share of total imports. The following importers - Malaysia (X tons) and the Philippines (X tons) - each accounted for a X% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Vietnam (with a CAGR of X%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced a decline in the imports figures.
In value terms, the largest butanol importing markets in ASEAN were Singapore ($X), Indonesia ($X) and Thailand ($X), together comprising X% of total imports. Vietnam, Malaysia and the Philippines lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further X%.

The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 an increase of X% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2021, and then declined modestly in the following year.
